Tracking a lower potential for storms as warmer weather returns

TODAY: I'm tracking the bulk of the showers and storms that had the potential to take over the region through the early morning hours staying to the west and south of Mid-Missouri, meaning most will wake up dry with a mix of clouds and sun as temperatures start in the mid-60s. Isolated, short-lived showers and storms are still possible through the afternoon, but a drier overall trend is expected as temperatures warm into the low 80s and winds blow out of the north at 5-10 mph.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking another low chance for showers and storms overnight into the early morning hours of Monday, but once again, most will remain dry as this activity quickly moves north. Temperatures will drop into the low 60s by the end of the night as winds shift into the southeast, blowing at 10-15 mph and gusting up to 20-25 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking this shift into southerly flow, paired with slightly more sunshine, leading to temperatures jumping back into the upper 80s by Monday afternoon. Warmth is set to continue both Tuesday and Wednesday, with upper 8s and low 90s in the forecast each afternoon, and with this will come more limited storm chances. High pressure will be the main thing keeping these chances largely at bay for the first half of the week, but by Thursday, this high pressure begins to break down. This will allow for slightly better chances of precipitation by the end of the week as afternoon temperatures begin to stay in the low 80s.
