COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Schnucks announced a recall of some of the store’s branded applesauce pouches, according to a Friday press release from the company.

Schnuck Markets Inc. announced the recall after it said the supplier warned there were elevated levels of lead found in the cinnamon raw material used by Austrofood SAS, the manufacturer of the applesauce cinnamon pouches, the release states.

The release states the recall includes Schnucks and EatWell locations, both of which are located in Columbia. Schnucks also has a store in Jefferson City.

The affected products, according to the release, include:

  • Schnucks Cinnamon Applesauce Pouch 12 pack -- UPC: 4131801152
  • Schnucks Cinnamon Applesauce Pouch 4 pack -- UPC: 4131801155
  • Schnucks Applesauce Pouch Variety 20 pack -- UPC: 4131801157

Those products can be returned to Schnucks and Eatwell locations for a full refund, the release states.

The release also states the recall does not include stores in Rockford, Illinois; Dekalb, Illinois; and Janesville, Wisconsin.
