The winter trout season begins Wednesday at Cosmo-Bethel Park.

According to a press release from the City of Columbia, the Missouri Department of Conservation will stock the lake with 2,400 rainbow trout.

The catch-and-release season runs through Jan. 31, and only artificial lures and unscented baits can be used.

Anglers must have a valid Missouri fishing license and trout stamp, if they wish to participate.
