QUESTION OF THE DAY: Does Columbia need an office dedicated to preventing violence?

Columbia Mayor Barbara Buffaloe said Monday that she planned to spearhead the creation of a city Office of Violence Prevention.

It's the city's latest idea to take on violent crime, which frequently pops up in public ways. The most recent was a weekend shooting in the area of Cosmo Park that included a victim who was taken to a motel blocks away.
