Eighth and Cherry parking garage in Downtown Columbia to reopen Friday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The City of Columbia announced in a Thursday press release that the Eighth and Cherry parking garage will reopen Friday.

The parking garage has been closed since June for a renovation project. The City initially expected the project to be finished Friday, Aug. 11.

Renovations, according to the press release, included:

  • Waterproofing or replacement of interior steel beams
  • The addition of a waterproofed surface to the driving lanes
  • The restriping of all parking spaces
  • The repainting of interior walls
  • The relocation of two ADA spaces to the other side of the first floor
  • A thorough cleaning of the facility

Additionally, on-street parking meters that have been reserved for hotel valet parking will also be restored to normal 5 p.m. Friday, the release states.

This project cost an estimated $300,000, paid for with parking fee revenue, the release states.
