Columbia’s Fire in the Sky event to be held Tuesday evening

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The City of Columbia is hosting its 71st annual Independence Day Fire in the Sky Celebration on Tuesday evening.

The Celebration will be held at Stephens Lake Park on Tuesday starting at 6:30 p.m. The fireworks display will begin at 9:15 p.m. at the east side of the park, according to a press release from the City.

Many of Boone Hospital’s parking lots will be available for public use for the event, the press release states. Go COMO Transit will provide a free shuttle service from 5-11 p.m. from all six City parking garages to the Boone Hospital parking lot. The Columbia Police Department will also be assisting with traffic.

East Walnut Street will be closed to non-residential traffic. Bike racks will be available for use.

Attendees will not be allowed to bring personal fireworks or grills, and the use of alcohol is discouraged according to the release. Though blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged.
