MSHP reports multiple crashes so far for Memorial Day weekend

As Memorial Day Weekend is underway, Missouri State Highway Patrol is reminding all drivers to keep safety first as an increased number of troopers will be out watching the roads.
AAA says over 37 million people are expected to travel by car this weekend. MSHP says troopers are focusing their attention on hazardous moving violations, speed violations, and impaired drivers.
For the 2022 Memorial Day Weekend, so far MSHP has reported making 131 driving while intoxicated and seven boating while intoxicated arrests.
MSHP has already reported several crashes statewide for their Memorial Day Counting Period which started at 6:00 p.m. Friday and is set to end at 11:59 p.m. Monday, May 29.
At last check, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash Report, since Friday MSHP reported 35 crashes reported statewide.
Six of those crashes resulted in deaths, and eight people suffered serious injuries. Meanwhile, of those 35 crashes two were reported in Mid-Missouri and there have been zero boating crashes reported since Friday.
Over the 2022 Memorial Day Weekend, Highway Patrol says 13 people died and 507 were injured in over a thousand traffic crashes.
On the water for 2022, the Highway Patrol reported zero drownings and nine boating crashes which included one fatality and four injuries.
