Ruptured gas line leads to evacuations in Downtown Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A ruptured gas line Thursday morning led to the evacuation of Boone County government and court employees.

Workers were making repairs in an alley off Ninth Street when they hit the natural gas line, Columbia Fire Department Chief Clayton Farr Jr. said. The people inside the Boone County Courthouse and the county Government Center had evacuated before firefighters got there, Farr said.

The leak was stopped and people were allowed back inside the buildings after a short time.
