COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police were asking drivers to avoid part of a busy road during the evening rush Monday because of a crash.

Columbia Police Department Lt. Mike Hestir said in a social media video that drivers should avoid Stadium Boulevard between Rollins Road and Forum Boulevard. "We had a driver strike numerous vehicles and there's a lot of emergency equipment on scene trying to clear the roadway."

It wasn't immediately clear how many vehicles were involved or if anyone was injured. Police say the crashes closed a lane of Stadium.

The video was posted shortly after 5 p.m. CPD said in a follow-up message a little before 6 p.m. that the road was cleared.

Police also said they had a suspect in custody.
