COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia pool is back open after a delay due to staffing shortages.

The Albert-Oakland Family Aquatic Center opened Wednesday and will be open Wednesdays through Sundays.

Each day there are two sessions, noon to 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The City of Columbia's Parks and Rec Department says the city has now hired 46 lifeguards.

A minimum of 70 is needed to open the Douglass Family Aquatic Center, too.

The Parks and Rec Department report that 71 lifeguards are scheduled for June classes.

As of right now, the center is scheduled to open July 1st if enough lifeguards are hired.
