COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia Housing and Community Development gave their CARES ACT Funding proposals recommendations Wednesday night in the third round of funding.

CHCD had a little under $800,000 to hand out but received $1.7 million in proposals.

Sixteen organizations from across the city requested the grant money to help with their respective charities.

CHCD gave a rating to each grant request and limited the amount of money each organization received.

Housing Program Manager Randy Cole said the proposals that were not approved was simply because there wasn't enough money to go around for all of the organizations.

The City Council still has to approve them, from there, they go to HUD for final approval.

Cole said these organizations could see the funding by March.
