COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

St. Louis supermarket chain Schnucks plans to open its new natural food store called EatWell in the old Lucky's Market building on June 24.

Schnucks bought the store at a bankruptcy auction in March for $860,000. The Columbia Lucky's stayed open after the purchase but was shut down in early April for the transition to EatWell.

The new Columbia store is located next to the building that used to house Schnucks and is the first in the EatWell format. The Schnucks on Forum Boulevard will remain open and keep its more traditional supermarket format.

Schnucks said in a news release that about 80 people will work at the new store and most of those are former Lucky's employees.

Customers will be required to use social distancing and encouraged to wear face coverings amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the company said.
