COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Police Department said Tuesday that human remains found two weeks ago have been identified as a Columbia man who had been missing for months.

A news release sent out around 3:30 p.m. said the remains of 47-year-old Alan Chrouser were found on April 14 just north of the Columbia mall.

Police say Chrouser was reported missing back on Sept. 2, 2019, after he hadn't been seen in about a week. Officers checked in with area businesses Chrouser was known to visit but weren't able to locate him, according to the release.

A cause of death wasn't provided in the release. It included officers are investigating Chrouser's death.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the police department at 573-874-7652 or Crimestoppers 573-875-TIPS (8477).
