COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Lucky's Market in downtown Columbia will close Tuesday as it gets ready to reopen as a Schnucks.

A Schnucks spokesman said Thursday that the store will be rebranded while it is closed but the reopening date has not been set. Schnucks spokesman Paul Simon said the lack of a reopening date is because of uncertainty surrounding the economy amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

St. Louis-based Schnuck Markets, Inc., bought the Columbia Lucky's Market during a telephone auction last week for $860,000. Lucky's had filed for bankruptcy in January.

Simon said the company is working with all 89 Lucky's employees on job offers.

Schnucks already operates one store in Columbia on Forum Boulevard.
