UM System suspends in-person classes on all campuses through end of semester

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The University of Missouri System is suspending all in-person classes starting Monday through the rest of the spring semester.

This will affect classes at MU, UMKC, Missouri S&T and UMSL. They will be taught remotely.

The move comes after President Donald Trump and Gov. Mike Parson made emergency declarations.

According to an email from system leaders, the universities will stay open and operational. This means that libraries, residence halls and dining halls will still be open. However, the recreation centers will be closed.

Leaders said that they will let students know when plans are made for final exams and graduation ceremonies.

Officials also said that supervisors should continue to plan for remote work options in case that becomes necessary.

The letter also said that university researchers have worked with similar viruses and are collaborating globally to help fight COVID-19.
