COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Planning and Zoning Commission voted 6-1 to approve a replat for a potential new hotel near the corner of Cherry Street and Hitt Street.

The proposed structure is called the Cherry Street Hotel and would sit at 1005 Cherry Street just north of the Hitt Street Garage.

Commissioner Michael MacMann was the only dissenting vote.

Crockett Engineering presented the replat on behalf of Cherry Street Hotel LLC. The vote replats lot 158 and 65 feet of 159. Commission documents show the building currently sitting on the land parcel is expected to be demolished. No building plans were submitted at a previous public meeting.

It's unclear where parking for the proposed hotel will be located.

The plan approved by the commission will also modify the Cherry and intersection as well as Alley A, which sits immediately north of where the hotel will be located.
