Cole County deputies to get body cameras
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Cole County Sheriff’s Office is getting body cameras.
The Cole County Commission approved the purchase of 80 new body cameras Tuesday. Plans to buy new cameras last year fell through after the Texas-based company the county planned to buy them from said it was no longer producing body cameras.
The new cameras will cost just over $230,000. The cameras will use a cloud system instead of deputies having to download the footage after every shift. Cole County Sheriff John Wheeler told commissioners that this will save his staff time.
