Blair Oaks locked down after ‘possible threat’
WARDSVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)
A "possible threat" to the district led Blair Oaks administrators to lock down the campus Tuesday morning, the district said in a news release.
The district didn't give details about the threat but said a school resource officer notified administrators at 10:45 a.m. about a "possible threat made towards the school," according to the statement from high school Principal Chris Marshall. The Cole County Sheriff's Department determined the schools needed to be locked down to ensure safety, Marshall said.
The students tied to the possible threat were escorted off campus for further questioning by sheriff's deputies, Marshall said.
The district said it is unable to disclose the names of the students and what type of discipline they might face because of federal student privacy laws.
Students returned to their classes at about 11:30 a.m., the district said. All students and staff were safe. Marshall said in a statement that the district doesn't believe anyone on campus was in danger.
