Illinois man killed in weekend Cole County crash
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
An Illinois died when his car hit a tree early Sunday in Cole County.
Drew Johnson, 26, of Marion, Illinois, was driving on Highway 179 south of Claysville Road when he lost control on a curve, went off the road, hit a tree and a fence and came to rest against another tree, the highway patrol said.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Johnson's death was one of 13 connected with traffic crashes statewide over the Labor Day holiday weekend. Two of the deaths were in Mid-Missouri -- in addition to Johnson, Brian Sam died after being hit by a vehicle while walking on Interstate 70 in Columbia on Saturday night.
