Mendon man arrested after child allegedly injured in his care

MENDON, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Mendon man is arrested earlier this week after a 10-year-old child was allegedly injured in his care.

According to court records, Buck Moffitt is charged with two counts of armed criminal action, endangering the welfare of a child and abuse or neglect of a child after an incident on Oct. 10.

According to a Chariton County probable cause statement, a 10-year-old child was allegedly injured in the care of Moffitt after an ATV crash. The child suffered a sprained hip according to medical professionals in Kansas City according to court documents.

During an interview with the 10-year-old child, the child stated Moffitt's action scared him while Moffitt drove to the store and overtook a slower moving vehicle.

According to court documents, the child was then taken to another residence where Moffitt resided. While there, Moffitt forced a child to ride on an ATV and while doing so this is how the child was allegedly injured.

Moffitt's bond is set at $50,000 cash only.
