Boone Electric asks customers to conserve energy amid ‘maximum load’ on electric grid

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Boone Electric Cooperative is asking its customers to help conserve energy on Thursday.

A Wednesday press release says Boone Electric is making the request “due to the extreme winter weather and maximum load on our electric grid.”

Boone Electric is asking customers lower their thermostats a few degrees and turn off nonessential electric devices from 6-10 a.m. Thursday.

Some ways to conserve energy, the release says, includes unplugging devices – such as space heaters – when not in use, turning off fans and lights in empty room, delay using hot water and limiting the use of appliances such as ovens, stoves, clothes dryers and EV charges.
