Tractor-trailer fire stops eastbound I-70 traffic in Boone County; road reopened
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Eastbound Interstate 70 in western Boone County reopened by mid-afternoon Tuesday after a tractor-trailer fire closed both lanes.
The fire near mile marker 119 a little west of Columbia caused a backup of at least four miles that could be seen on traffic camera at the 115 mile marker.
Eastbound I-70 remained closed at mile marker 119 at noon. Cooper County Emergency Management posted on social media that the road would be closed for an undetermined length of time.
Cooper County EMA later said the closure could last up to two hours and that traffic was being diverted on Highway 40 through Boonville. Traffic started to move slowly on Interstate 70 in western Boone County a little before 12:30 p.m.
Other details were not immediately available.
