No injuries reported following roof collapse at Sturgeon building

The alley behind the Greenwood Brothers Building in Sturgeon was closed Thursday, May 16, 2024, after the roof of the building collapsed.

STURGEON, Mo. (KMIZ)

No injuries or evacuations were reported at after part of the roof of a building at in the 100 block of North Ogden Street in Sturgeon collapsed on Thursday.

Parking lanes in front of the Greenwood Brothers Building and the alleyway behind the building were closed on Thursday as first responders worked.

Several drones were being utilized to see how much of the roof collapse. The lanes will be closed until a building inspector can assess the damage, Boone County Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Gale Blomenkamp said.

Blomenkamp said one side of the building started experiencing a collapse about a year ago, but the roof began collapsing on Thursday.
