Boone County tornado siren that malfunctioned after lightning strike repaired

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Boone County tornado siren that malfunctioned on Thursday after a lightning strike has been repaired, according to a Friday evening press release from the Boone County Office of Emergency Management.

A siren in the 5400 block of North Highway 763 had a technical malfunction Thursday afternoon and activated without a warning present, according to previous reporting. The siren was temporarily removed from service.

Friday’s press release states that the siren has been repaired and is functioning correctly. Anyone who believes a siren is not operating correctly should reach out to BCOEM by calling 573-554-7900, the release says.
