Fire damages house north of Columbia early Friday

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Boone County home suffered several thousand dollars in damage in a fire Friday morning.

According to the Boone County Fire Protection District, firefighters responded to the home in the 10900 block of North Route E around 5:25 a.m. Crews said smoke detectors in the home alerted the only person inside to call 911.

According to the fire department, a fire in the chimney flue spread to a nearby wall.

Firefighters said the fire caused about $100,000 in damage.
