CENTRALIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Several Boone County fire units were called to a fire at a building listed online as a wood products business near Centralia on Wednesday afternoon.

The call came over emergency radio at about 1 p.m.

An ABC 17 News crew saw fire trucks and volunteer firefighters' vehicles massed outside an address listed online as K&K Wood Products.

A large metal building at the address showed what appeared to be smoke or fire damage on its outside wall near the roof.

Gale Blomenkamp with the Boone County Fire Protection District said firefighters saw smoke coming from all sides of the building when they arrived. The building suffered smoke damage but little fire damage, he said. Some insulation was burned inside the metal building, Blomenkamp said.

The employees were at lunch and no one was inside when firefighters arrived, Blomenkamp said. The cause of the fire has not been determined and fire investigators were at the scene, he said.

The building's owner declined to talk to an ABC 17 News reporter.
