COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

MidwayUSA company officials appealed a decision from the Boone County Planning and Zoning Commission to rezone land for a new facility.

The request was denied Thursday after commissioners said the new headquarters could change the character of the neighborhood.

The proposed facility would be at the intersection of Highway 40 and Route J between Rocheport and Columbia. According to plans from MidwayUSA, the building would occupy about 193 acres.

The appeal goes to the Boone County Commission and will be heard at their Dec. 3 meeting.
