Police in SE Missouri shoot, kill bloodied man with knife

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (AP) — Authorities say officers shot and killed a man who was carrying a knife in southeast Missouri. The Poplar Bluff Police Department says officers responded early Tuesday to reports that a man was walking down a street covered in blood and carrying a knife. The man began hurting himself with the knife after officers tried to talk to him. Police said officers shot the man after he charged at them with the knife. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No officers were injured. Three officers have been placed on administrative leave while the the Missouri State Highway Patrol investigates the shooting.
