Appeals Court: St. Louis officers not immune from lawsuit

KMIZ

ST. LOUIS (AP) — A federal appeals court has ruled that St. Louis police officers are not immune from a lawsuit filed by a man who was arrested along with several other people during a protest in 2017. A three-judge appeals court panel on Thursday upheld a lower court ruling. Brian Baude is one of several people who sued after being arrested following the acquittal of former St. Louis police officer Jason Stockley on a murder charge in 2017. Baude alleges he was not participating in a protest outside his home in downtown St. Louis when he was caught up in a mass arrest. He was jailed for 14 hours before being released.
