Man sentenced to life in killing over missing cell phone
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — A 33-year-old Springfield man has been sentenced to life in prison for a fatal shooting that prosecutors say occurred over a missing cell phone. The Greene County prosecutor’s office said Monday that Keeton Waring was sentenced last week in the February 2019 death of Jaime Carroll. He was convicted of second-degree murder in August. Court documents said Waring and Carroll were together when Waring couldn’t find his phone and accused others of taking it. When Carroll was shot when he stepped in front of a shotgun Waring was pointing at another man and grabbed the gun.
