NFL player sends books to his Mississippi elementary school
MCCOMB, Miss. (AP) — Students at an elementary school in Mississippi are receiving backpacks and books from an education program affiliated with the Kansas City Chiefs. A cornerback for the team, Charvarius Ward, chose Otken Elementary in McComb, Mississippi, for the donations because he went to school there. The Chiefs’ Kingdom United Program aims to teach the importance of reading and promote diversity and unity. The Enterprise-Journal reports that Otken Elementary students will have once-a-month virtual reading days with Ward.
