Tracking scattered showers and storms this afternoon

THIS AFTERNOON: Scattered showers and storms, with a strong storm possibly producing damaging winds near I-44 around 4 to 6 p.m. Temperatures remain mild under clouds in the upper 70s and low 80s.

TONIGHT: Showers dwindle after sunset, and clouds clear quickly overnight. Lows fall to the upper 60s.

EXTENDED: Drier weather is favored through the end of the week as weak high pressure moves over the area, and temperatures remain near or below average in the lower 80s. A few storms are possible Friday night, but we'll stay dry on Saturday. Showers look to return by Sunday, lasting through Sunday night, bringing up to a half inch of rain. Temperatures steadily climb to the mid to upper 80s early next week after the rain clears out.
