Power slowly being restored across mid-Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

City of Columbia Utilities says power has been restored after more than 1500 customers were without power in Columbia Thursday morning as storms rolled through mid-Missouri.

According to Jason West, communication and outreach supervisor for Columbia Utilities, multiple small issues with tree limbs and vines caused the closure of a couple of large circuits, which led to the outages. West said in an email to ABC 17 News sent just after 7:30 a.m. that those issues have now been resolved.

The outage near Chapel Hill Road has been fixed and crews are currently working to fix the outage near N. Fairview Road, according to West.

Earlier, the City of Columbia outage map showed two incidents affecting customers. The main outage affecting the most customers is reported near N. Fairview Road. The second was south near Chapel Hill Road.

The Boone Electric Cooperative outage map shows 306 customers without power due to 4 outages at 8:03 a.m., a decrease from 747 customers without power at 5:45 a.m. in Boone County.

The Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives outage map shows power is slowly being restored to multiple counties.

As of 8:03 a.m., 98 customers in Callaway County are in the dark and 202 customers are without power in Benton County.

Counties like Audrain, Camden, Cooper, Montgomery, Phelps and Saline are reporting fewer than 100 outages per county.
