KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Chiefs fans can now get an idea of what Kansas City's new enclosed stadium will look like, when it opens in 2031, after the organization released some renderings of the project, on Wednesday.

"Today we are excited to show Chiefs Kingdom a first look at our new home," Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said in a press release. "From the beginning, our goal has been to build something that improved the gameday experience for every single fan. This new stadium will do just that.

Kansas City, as well as the architecture firm MANICA, released six photos of what the $3 billion project will look like, as the new stadium will pay homage to historic Arrowhead Stadium. Notably, the Chiefs new stadium, which will be built in Kansas, will feature the same curved exterior as the original Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri.

Having an enclosed stadium will open up a bevy of opportunities for the Hunt family, including possibly hosting a Super Bowl, as the roof will feature translucent ethylene tetrafluoroethylene panels, so patrons can still see outside. The newly-built stadium has an expected total capacity of approximately 70,000 fans.

Outside of the stadium, the Chiefs organization is also honoring Kansas City's tailgating tradition, by building pedestrian boulevards to connect tailgating, community and the stadium. They said this will transform fans' arrival for gameday.

"While we're still finalizing many of the details, there are a few things we know for sure: it will hold 70,000 fans, it will still be the best place in the world to tailgate, and the whole building will be built for noise," Hunt said.
