Thousands out of power in Camden County following damaging winds

Severe thunderstorms knocked out power for over 10,000 homes in Camden County on Saturday.

The Camden County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post that there are downed power lines and trees across the county. The post asks people to avoid downed power lines and to notify the communications office.

The Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives shows over 10,000 are without power in Camden County, more than 2,500 in Miller County and more than 4,500 in Morgan County.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Camden County until 3 p.m., and a watch that expires at 7 p.m.

Cole County, southern Boone County, Moniteau County and many others in Mid-Missouri are under a warning until the late afternoon and a thunderstorm watch until 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Damaging winds and ping pong-sized hail could be possible.
