Tracking potentially severe storms tonight, beautiful days to follow

TONIGHT: A Weather Alert Day is in effect for storms late this evening into the overnight hours tomorrow. The greatest confidence in timing places arrival time around 10-11 pm for northwestern Missouri. As the system tracks southeastward, central and southern Missouri look to be impacted closer to midnight, perhaps later in some spots. Flooding will be the biggest concern for the entire viewing area, as heavy rain with this system could create areas of isolated flooding. In the strongest areas of the storm, damaging wind gusts and hail will be a threat, and a brief spin-up tornado cannot be completely ruled out.

TOMORROW: Rain and storms dissipate overnight leaving a calm Sunday in its wake. A passing cold front will keep humidity low, and temperatures look to hover in the mid 70s. Sunshine is expected to make a return in the afternoon.

EXTENDED: A few gorgeous days are ahead, as temperatures cool off for a couple days in the early half of the week. Monday and Tuesday look like great days to enjoy time outside, with temps in the mid to upper 70s and plenty of sunshine. Rain will become a factor once again as we approach Wednesday. An increase in warm air and moisture will not only raise our temperatures back into the low to mid 80s for the remainder of the week, but will create scattered rain chances through Friday. Thursday looks to bring the most substantial rainfall, with showers tapering by Friday. Another round of rainfall could impact the region next weekend.
