COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Firefighters in Sedalia put out a truck fire Tuesday afternoon, according to a social media post from the Sedalia Fire Department.

Crews were called to a parking lot of a business on South Limit Avenue around 4 p.m. SFD wrote in a comment on the post that someone was driving down the road and pulled over when they heard the vehicle “make funny noises” before realizing it was on fire.

The fire was almost out when the fuel tank erupted and caused flames to engulf the vehicle again, the post says.

“It was determined the use of firefighting foam was needed and 2 handlines were equipped with foam producing capabilities, one with a foam eductor and one with a Pro Pak. Crews then extinguished the flames and started the clean up process,” the post says.

SFD did not report any injuries.
