Mizzou hoops earns a No. 6 seed in NCAA Tournament, heading to Wichita

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou men's basketball team will stay close to home for the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament.

On Saturday, head coach Dennis Gates and company were picked as a No. 6 seed in the West Region. The Tigers will face No. 11-seeded Drake in Wichita, Kansas. MU is joined in the region by rivals Arkansas and Kansas, as well.

Following MU's selection, Coach Gates addressed fans at the watch party in Mizzou Arena and said, "It's drivable. Be there."

The Southeastern Conference will be well-represented in the Big Dance. In fact, the conference earned a record-breaking number of NCAA Tournament bids, as 14 out of the league's 16 teams were selected.
