Outages leave Jefferson City Ameren customers in the dark

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A series of a dozen outages in Jefferson City left nearly 400 Ameren Missouri customers without electricity at its peak late Thursday afternoon.

The outages appeared on the utility's map to be clustered south of Highway 50 and east of Highway 54. The largest outage affected 275 customers and began at 3:31 p.m., the utility's map said just before 5 p.m. It wasn't clear when that outage would be restored.

Other outages were reported between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. About two-thirds of the customers had been restored by 5:30 p.m., an Ameren Missouri spokesperson said. Crews were working in the Ellis Boulevard area, the spokesperson said.

The cause of the outages was not clear.
