Cause of fire at Hermann antique store undetermined
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Officials could not determine what caused a fire last month at an antique store and bed and breakfast in Hermann.
The Missouri State Fire Marshal report says that an estimated $375,000 was lost from the fire. Electricity and gas were eliminated as causes because the electric meter and gas lines were clear of fire damage, the report states.
The roof collapsed and the majority of areas left intact had heavy smoke and fire damage, the report says.
The fire’s cause was undetermined because of the extend of the damage.
“Due to the evidence, burn patterns, and severity of damages noted above, including the collapse of a large portion of both the 1st and 2nd floors, and insufficient evidence to identify an ignition source or ignition sequence, a factual determination as to the cause of this fire could not be rendered. Therefore, this fire is classified as undetermined,” the report says.
