Mizzou women’s basketball rolls over Jacksonville State
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou women's basketball team took care of business against Jacksonville State, on Sunday afternoon, to improve to 7-3 on the season.
The Tigers beat the Gamecocks 79-45 in a solid defensive outing for head coach Robin Pingeton's unit. MU forced 20 turnovers, 13 in the first half, on Jacksonville State, as the Gamecocks shot about 36 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes.
Mizzou also out-toughed JSU on the boards, as Pingeton's team out-rebounded the Gamecocks by a margin of 12 in the win.
Four Tigers got into double-digit scoring, on Sunday, as guards Laniah Randle and Grace Slaughter led the attack with 15 points apiece. Guards Ashton Judd and Abbey Schreacke were right behind them with 12 points apiece.
Overall, MU shot better than 50 percent from the field, but struggled for 3-point range. Mizzou shot just 26 percent from beyond the arc, with two of the four 3-pointers made on the night coming off the hands of Schreacke.
Up next - Mizzou will host SMU on Thursday, Dec. 5 at the Arena. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m.
