Woman accused of shooting teenager pleads guilty to 2 felonies, sentenced to probation
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A woman who was accused of shooting a teenager last year was sentenced to probation on Monday.
Shyraah Robin Brown, 36, of Columbia, pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child. She was sentenced to five years of probation with a four-year suspended sentence.
According to court documents in previous reporting, Columbia police were responding to a crash when they heard shots fired and went to the 2200 block of Ballenger Lane. A 17-year-old boy was found with a gunshot wound to his right ankle. The teenager was brought to an area hospital by ambulance.
Video of the scene allegedly showed several people fighting multiple times over the span of four minutes. Brown allegedly fired a gun at a vehicle that contained several people -- including youth -- and hit one of the teenagers, documents say.
Brown allegedly identified herself in photos presented by police.
A second woman charged in the case, Sierra Felice Smith, 36, of Columbia, pleaded guilty on May 31 to third-degree assault and was sentenced to three years in prison.
