COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia woman was charged on Thursday with several felonies after police say she was seen firing a gun and hit a teenager in a parking lot on Aug. 28.

Shyraah Robin Brown, 35, was arrested on Wednesday. She was charged with three counts of first-degree assault, first-degree assault of a special victim, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Brown is being held in the Boone County Jail without bond. An initial court appearance was set for Thursday.

According to the probable cause statement, Columbia police were responding to a crash when they heard shots fired and responded to the 2200 block of Ballenger Lane. A 17-year-old boy was found with a gunshot wound to his right ankle. The teenager was brought to an area hospital by ambulance.

Police obtained video and saw several people assaulting a person wearing a dress, the probable cause statement says. Several fights allegedly broke out within a span of four minutes before “the crowd” was seen running away, the statement says.

The probable cause statement says a woman wearing a dress was holding a gun in her right hand while walking towards a parking lot with several vehicles. She allegedly fired the gun at a vehicle that had several people in it – including teenagers, according to the statement.

The woman -- later identified as Brown -- is allegedly seen walking away before talking to police shortly after.

An alleged victim told police she saw Brown holding a silver-colored gun, the statement says. She also allegedly told police that Brown pointed the gun at her and fired. The woman said two of her teenaged children were in a car with her when Brown shot the gun, the statement says.

Brown was interviewed by police on Wednesday and was shown two photographs that were screenshots from the surveillance video, the statement says. She allegedly identified herself in the photos.
