Columbia man charged with murder in shooting outside White Castle
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man was charged Tuesday with four felonies including murder in a deadly Friday shooting outside a White Castle restaurant.
Antione L. Armstrong is accused of firing the shots that killed another man in a shooting after a fight. Prosecutors filed second-degree murder, illegal gun possession, armed criminal action and drug distribution charges against Armstrong.
His name did not show up among current Boone County Jail inmates.
Armstrong was shot during a fight on Friday in the parking lot outside the restaurant at 3401 Clark Lane, according to a probable cause statement. Armstrong had met another man in the parking lot before the fight. A witness told investigators that he saw the other person -- Louis W. Hart, 56, who died Friday at a hospital -- shoot at Armstrong after Armstrong threw a punch, according to the probable cause statement.
Another witness said Armstrong went down to the ground after being shot and that Hart then shot him a few more times. Armstrong returned fire from his prone position, the statement says.
Investigators later recovered a backpack belonging to Armstrong that had oxycodone pills, marijuana and about $3,000 in cash.
Jayden McGerald, 20, of Columbia was charged Monday with evidence tampering for allegedly trying to hide Armstrong's gun.
Armstrong's bond was denied. A police release last week said the man who survived the shooting was paralyzed from the waist down but it did not name Armstrong.
