Tracking a summer-like Thursday and a dreary Friday

TODAY: Thursday is another warm day, in fact, it will likely best Wednesday by a degree or two with a light south breeze and partly cloudy skies. Grab the sunscreen and the shades today, you'll want them! There's a SLIM chance of a pop-up shower or sprinkle this afternoon, but this will be extremely isolated, and the vast majority of us will stay dry today.

TONIGHT: High clouds will move in late tonight, and eventually lead to a chance for light showers, in and from the west, after midnight. Temperatures will settle in the low 60s overnight.

EXTENDED: By sunrise on Friday, showers will be filling in from the west to the east along and ahead of a cold front. The front will arrive in time to keep our temperatures much cooler, near 70 for a high in some places. Those in the southeast like Rolla, Vienna, and Waynesville, will have a chance at 80 ahead of the front. This is where we could see some NON-severe storms develop. Lightning will be the greatest risk, along with the potential for more substantial rainfall leading to flooding on a very localized basis if storms bring rain for an extended period of time over one location. For the vast majority of folks, this is not a meaningful rain, with totals widely expected to remain less than a 10th of an inch. Saturday will be feeling spring-like with sunny and 75 forecast alongside dewpoints in the 40s. Sunday pushes temperatures to near 80, and ushers in a warm and dry trend as we expect daily sunshine and temperatures slowly reaching upper 80s by Wednesday.
