COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The University of Missouri has partnered with Red Cross to prepare for its 32nd annual "Spring Greek Week" blood drive. The drive is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday, April 3. - Wednesday, April 5. at Mizzou Rec.
Red Cross says during the 2022 Spring Greek Week blood drive a little over 2,000 blood donations were collected.
During the 2023 drive, the Red Cross says it hopes to collect between 2,000 and 2,500 blood donations over the three day event.
Organizers are encouraging all blood types from the University and the Columbia community to come out and give blood.
If interested, you can download the Red Cross Blood Donor App or visit redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code: MIZZOU to make an appointment or to learn more information.
You will need a blood donor card, driver’s license, or two other forms of identification at check-in. Organizers also say you must be at least 17-years-old, 16 with parental consent, and weigh at least 110 lbs pounds to donate blood.
You can also save an extra 15 minutes during your donation by filling out a RapidPass on the red cross blood donor app or at redcrossblood.org. Organizers say RapidPass allows you to complete the pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire on the day of your donation.
Since its start in 1990, Organizers say the University of Missouri’s "Spring Greek Week" blood drive has collected a little more than 78,000 blood donations.
