COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Columbia Downtown Community Improvement District reported it has received 13 applications from businesses asking for a security-camera grant introduced last month.
The District has set aside $30,000 for the grant program and will reimburse each business up to $2,000 after installation. The grants will pay for cameras.
This is all done in an attempt to improve safety conditions seen in Downtown Columbia.
Executive Director of the Columbia downtown community improvement district said because the group has received 13 applications and have only allocated $30,000, there is essentially only two spots left for an application.
“So it’s up to $2,000 for each business to use,” Davis said. “If some of those businesses don’t use the entire $2,000, they just need o$1,000, whatever that might be. Then those funds will be back in that pot for a different business to use.”
Businesses looking to apply for this grant have until July 31 to apply, or until the funds run out.
Grant applications are available on The District's website.
