Boone County Commission opens up applications for ARPA funds

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Boone County Commission has opened up applications for its federal COVID-19 relief money.

During the first round of applications, the county has $15 million in American Rescue Plan money it can distribute to qualifying businesses and organizations, according to a press release from the commission.

The application is on the Commission's website. It's accepting applications until 5 p.m. Friday, March 31. Approval of applications from the first round of funding is expected to be decided by early June.

The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 was signed into law on March 11, 2021. The Act established the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds program, which provides funding that must be allocated for pandemic rescue and recovery efforts.

Businesses and organizations are encouraged to view frequently asked questions and a final rule overview on the U.S. Department of Treasury’s website.
