Police continue search for two suspects following crash at Columbia liquor store
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ.)
The search continues for two suspects who crashed a car into a Columbia liquor store early Monday morning.
The Columbia Police Department says two men drove into the side of Arena Liquor on 2201 Ballenger Lane. The incident took place around 2:30 a.m. Monday. The suspects left the scene, but not before stealing $400 and some merchandise.
When ABC 17 News crews got on the scene, a blue Hyundai SUV could be seen. Several Columbia police officers could also be seen investigating the incident.
Amber Cooper -- who said she was the owner of the blue Hyundai SUV -- said it was stolen from her driveway early Friday morning.
"They (police) called us at about 3 a.m this morning and said they had found my car and it was used in a burglary and then they called us back and said that it was used in at least two burglaries," Cooper said. "We have the keys, so it was locked. There was shattered glass allover our driveway, my husband went downstairs at 6 a.m. and our car was just not here."
The crash left damage to the right side of the store, damage to store shelves and refrigerators. Cooper says the theft has left her on edge.
"Its anxiety inducing if we were not already moving we would be planning onto because we don't want to deal with that very much," Cooper said.
The owner of the Arena Liquor location told ABC 17 News, during his 15 years of owning the store, he's never experienced an incident quite like this one. ABC 17 News reached out to CPD, but have not heard back yet.
Officers are asking anyone with information to contact the Columbia Police Department.
