One dead after multi-vehicle crash in Camden County

CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

One man is dead and two people are seriously hurt after a multi-vehicle crash in Camden County.

The crash happened Northbound on Highway 5 on the Niangua Bridge just before 7:30 Friday night.

Troopers say, Miles Aldrich, 32, tried to avoid hitting a motorcycle driven by 54-year-old Drew Fairchild but ended up hitting the back of the motorcycle. Fairchild went off the left side of the road and hit a concrete barrier and returned to the road and then was hit by Cadillac driven by 55-year-old Donna Hunt.

Aldrich's Volkswagen then went off the right side of the road and hit a concrete barrier, returned back to the road, and hit the back of a Cadillac driven by 55-year-old Donna Hunt. Aldrich then went off the left side of the road and hit another concrete barrier, according to online crash reports.

Hunt's vehicle spun out and was hit by Fairchild's motorcycle.

Hunt and her passenger 55-year-old Craig Hunt were taken to University Hospital in serious condition.

Fairchild was pronounced dead on scene.

According to online arrest reports, Aldrich was arrested for DWI causing death, and operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner involving an accident. He's currently being held in the Camden County Jail on at 24-hour hold.

This is Troop F's first fatality for the month of December.
